First produced in 1998 the Sapphire was by far Ford's biggest selling Cosworth badged car, nearly 14,000 were produced in its original 2wd before being superseded in 1990 by the 4x4. Ford's first 4 wheel drive Cosworth sold a further 12,250 cars.
