First produced in 1986 six months after production ended on the S1, the S2 was developed primarily for the road and considered more 'driveable' than its predecessor. In 1990 the car went through a minor face-lift to be known as '90 spec'.Production ceased in 1991 with more than 22,000 vehicles being made.
