My Story.
I've had a passion for fast fords since owning my first RS, a Mk2 RS2000 back in the early 90's, and although already a quite talented artist and working as an airbrush artist at the time it was many years later that my own portfolio of automotive art even began, and it began by accident.
It was a Christmas day, nothing much on television and nothing much to do, i was looking through a calender of supercars i'd received as a gift. I got my sketchbook out and spent a couple of hours drawing a Lamborghini Countach, a few days later i drew a Ferrari Testarossa. A few more followed although these were spread out over a couple of years, purely as a hobby when i had nothing better to do, until i had a dozen or so quite decent sketches of these dream cars, although nowhere near good enough to sell, and at the time not even thinking about selling them.
I decided to spend longer on my next picture, probably my favourite car at the time, The Escort Cosworth, although still very much a dream car for me. I wanted it to be perfect and spent around 40 hours spread over many weeks getting small details just right, trying to bring the car to life on paper.
A few more of these iconic fords followed, each having at least 40 hours of work spent on them. It was only then that i started to show them to people, always asking for honesty and always getting a positive response.
I carried on building my collection, and challenging myself with new things, i'd never drawn an engine in my life, but knew i had to purely just to see if i could, engine of choice was of course a Cosworth. That engine eventually became part of my first Limited Edition A2 print and that first Escort Cosworth is now one of my biggest selling prints.
Even though i thought about it for a long time it was only becoming a dad that finally made me go for it and turn my artwork into saleable prints, and then work even harder at producing more, turning a few sales here and there into a small business.
One thing i knew before i even started selling my work, i didn't just want to be like any other business, i wanted to treat my customers they way i like to be treated, let's face it we've all ordered things and paid money that we work hard for and something has gone wrong, either the goods arrive damaged, or in some cases not at all, and then the customer service side let's the customer down. I haven't got a customer service department, if something does go wrong you'll speak to me, it very rarely happens but sometimes post does get lost or damaged, and i'll do everything i can to either track the item down so that you do receive it, or i'll replace it, full stop. Many of my customers have become repeat customers, something that's always very nice, but if you're ordering one print or ten prints i'll treat you the same, like gold, because let's face it, without you, i wouldn't even have a business.
The highlights... Although my work has since found it's way to nearly every country in the world, the first time i answered the phone and heard an Australian accent on the other end wanting to order several of my drawings is something i'll never forget. It's an amazing feeling knowing that people on the other side of the planet know what i do and want to own some of my work. Also being at shows and having hundreds of people visit the stand throughout the day and compliment me on my work is quite a humbling experience, although i still get a bit embarrassed if i'm working on a piece of artwork and get a crowd around me watching.
I hope you like my work, and take the time to appreciate the many hundreds of hours that have gone into developing my collection so far. If you like it enough to buy a piece then i thank you from the bottom of my heart, but most of all, i just hope you enjoy my work as much as i enjoy doing it.
Finally... For Charlie, My little boy and my greatest piece of art... This is for you !
